Chief Jones was a plankowner on PERMIT and interestingly enough, it was the last boat he was on also. He suffered a heart attack on board a few days before he was due to retire in 1971. Lyle was an ENC(SS) and had been there, done that! Always quick with a joke or funny sea story and a good nuke too.
